My work explores the intersection of design, material, and meaning through a process rooted in both intention and experimentation. I am drawn to the tactile and visual possibilities of print, composition, and form, using design as a way to translate complex ideas into accessible, engaging experiences.

Across my practice, I am interested in how visual language shapes perception—how typography, image, and structure can communicate beyond words. I approach each project as a system, balancing clarity with disruption, and precision with play. Whether working digitally or physically, I emphasize process as much as outcome, allowing iteration and discovery to guide the final piece.

Influenced by both contemporary design culture and traditional methods, my work often reflects a tension between order and fragmentation. I aim to create pieces that invite close looking—where layered details, subtle shifts, and intentional imperfections reveal themselves over time. Ultimately, my practice is about connection: between viewer and object, concept and execution, and idea and experience. Through design, I seek to create work that is not only visually compelling but also thoughtful, inquisitive, and resonant.

Kath(erine) Davis is a Brooklyn-based graphic designer working at the intersection of information design, typography, and experimental visual storytelling. Currently pursuing an MFA in Communications Design at Pratt Institute, their work explores how data, narrative, and form can be translated into engaging visual systems and interactive experiences.

Her background in architecture and philosophy from Connecticut College informs a thoughtful, systems-oriented approach to design. They are particularly interested in how structure, language, and visual communication shape the way information is understood.

Alongside their studies, Katherine works as a Research Assistant in the Pratt Production Labs, where they operate Shima knitting machines and support students in developing computational textile projects. Their experience also includes graphic design work for community organizations such as FRESH New London, as well as roles in admissions and outreach, where they developed strong communication and collaborative skills. Working across both digital and physical media, Katherine brings a balance of conceptual rigor and playful experimentation to their practice.
